Sharing expertise and experience
In 2017, EDF signed a technical partnership through a Funds for Technical Expertise and Shared Experience (FEXTE) with Eskom to reinforce cooperation in the fields of electricity transmission and distribution. Funded by the French Development Agency (AFD), this project aims at sharing experience and expertise on matters linked with network activities: electricity transport and distribution, smart networks, integration of renewable energies.
It also allowed recommendations to be identified to improve Eskom's performance in terms of system effectiveness and reliability.
Discussions have also been initiated with several municipalities on the question of network losses.
A regional expertise
In 2018, EDF was appointed to audit Mozambican electricity distribution network to identify the non-technical losses. 3 ears later, in July 2021, Electricidade de Moçambique has launched an international call for tenders with the objective of reducing a significant portion of the technical losses detected. EDF expects to succesfully apply for this tender.
